Early history (2007-2008)

Jacob, originally known as Golden Yoshi, is an American ROM hacker on SMWC. He joined on August 29, 2007 to make a thread for his then-upcoming second Yoshi's Island hack, SMW2+2. He released the final product of the hack on April 17, 2008. Prior to that, he released his first Yoshi's Island hack, SMW2+, on August 22, 2005 through Acmlm's board, where he had been a member for three years.

Staff and stuff (2008-2009)

During the staff applications of May 2008, Jacob (still known as Golden Yoshi) applied for and earned the position of local moderator of the Yoshi's Island hacking forum. In September 2008, Jacob stepped down from the position after being just plain bored of the duty and disliking having to deal with n00bs time and time again.

In May 2009, Golden Yoshi changed his name to Steven to reflect his real-life first name.

In June 2009, Steven released his Super Mario World hack, SMW2+3: The Essence Star.

Hiatus and comeback (2009-present)

Jacob (then known as Steven) took a five-month break from SMWC starting in July 2009 after being insulted by two staff members. He returned on December 30, 2009, and assumed the new username of Jacob, simply because he thinks it's an epic name.

Jacob released his third Yoshi's Island hack, entitled Golden Yoshi Returns, on February 27, 2010. The hack features one level only, albeit, it's a very long and challenging level. As indicated by the title, Golden Yoshi is the playable character.

He released a demo of his latest SMW hack, Mario Is Hungry!, on May 8, 2010 for SMWC's Creativity Convention. The hack has since been cancelled.

Jacob contributed to An SMWC Production. He created the Mountain "Void" section of Bowser's Castle. For his 2000th post, he announced his new SMW hack, The Essence Star 2, which was later revealed to be a hoax.

In July 2010, Jacob announced his new SMW hack, simply entitled Hack, which was then released on August 16, 2010. A continuation to Hack, Super Mario Underworld, is now in the works. A three-level demo was released for Fall 2010's C3 on November 13, 2010.
