Fortress

A Fortress is a secret building in Super Mario World. It is owned by Reznor. Mario must defeat him in battle to beat level and continue. Fortresses, like castles, are set to be demolished upon completion by default, but this can be changed in the Overworld Editor of Lunar Magic. In the original Super Mario World, there are four fortresses.

Vanilla Fortress

• The Vanilla Fortress is an underwater Fortress. To gain access to it you have to find the secret exit in Vanilla Dome 1.

Forest Fortress

• The Forest Fortress has two halves. One half is set to a slow scroll, and the other half has a lot of lava. To gain access to this Fortress you must beat the Forest Secret Area.

Chocolate Fortress

• The Chocolate Fortress is a Fortress with a brown foreground, hence the name. There is a lot of wooden spikes, Thwomps, and lava in this Fortress. To gain access to this Fortress you have to find the secrets at Chocolate Island.

Valley Fortress

• The Valley Fortress is a Fortress with a lot of layer two smashers and lava. To gain access to the Valley Fortress you have to find the secret in Valley of Bowser 2.
