Block

A block is an integral part of Mario platformers. There have been numerous kinds of blocks over the years, each serving a different function. All Mario has to do to make it perform its function is hit it.

The first block to debut in a Mario game was the POW Block (appearing in Mario Bros.), and the famous ? Blocks and Bricks were next, appearing in Super Mario Bros. 1. Some blocks can give out coins or items, provide extra platforms for Mario to step on, give advice, while others have spikes or fall or shrink when Mario steps on them.

Super Mario World 1 uses the following blocks:

• Brown Used Block
• Cement Block
• Green Star Block
• Info Box
• Note Block
• Purple triangle
• Throw block
• Wood Block

In addition, many members of SMW Central use BlockTool to add more blocks.
